A beautiful operatic retelling of O. Henry's masterpiece!

Amanda Beagle (soprano) as Della
Jason Steele (baritone) as Jim
Carissa Kett (mezzo soprano) as Maggie
David Svoboda (bass-baritone) as Henry
Kazumi Petinaux, accompanist

The story tells of a husband and wife, Jim and Della who, being very poor, agree not to exchange presents for Christmas. Although their friends advise against it, Jim sells his heirloom watch to buy Della elaborate combs for her hair. Della sells her long, beautiful hair in order to buy Jim a chain for his watch. Aided by three voices evoking the spirit of the Magi, they discover that reaffirming their love for each other is the best gift they could give.

The true meaning of Christmas will come to life through this inspirational piece. The music is lyrical and uplifting - and appropriate for all ages!
